Websites & hosting.Without the nonsense.

Nice websites shouldn’t need an expensive agency. Good hosting shouldn’t make you feel like client number 1001.

Small by choice.
Plain English by default.
Building for the web since 1997.
Whacky colours. Serious standards.
Start at the beginning

I don’t claim to be an expert at everything. But for simple stuff? I’m your man.

I have been building websites since around 1997. I learnt by doing, kept learning as the tools changed, and still believe the right solution is usually the simplest one that genuinely does the job.

1997.
A blank page.

Butterworth Metal Industries had never had a website. A copy of Microsoft FrontPage was specially ordered in for me locally. The person who told me about it showed me the little he knew. The rest was up to me to learn.

The old site was never the point. Learning how to make something useful was.

The tools changed.
The habit didn’t.

2000s
Servers, Joomla, WordPress
The work broadened beyond pages. The Butterworth Metal Industries website was hosted on the company’s own server, and I continued learning content-management and hosting systems as they became useful.

Hosting my own sites
By at least 2008 I was hosting my own websites rather than treating hosting as somebody else’s problem.
Later
WHMCS, LearnDash, Moodle
Client systems, learning platforms and the practical work around websites became part of what I learnt to manage.
Now
Modern tools, used where they fit
Astro when a lightweight site is the better answer; WordPress or Moodle when a fuller system is genuinely needed. The tool follows the job, not the other way round.

Don’t use a jackhammer to crack a walnut.

A straightforward website does not need an enormous technical stack, a twelve-person agency team, or a bill that requires the sale of a minor organ.

There is a sensible middle.

Option 01

Expensive agency.

Sometimes absolutely the right answer. Often complete overkill for a straightforward website.

Option 02

Your mother’s cousin’s best friend’s neighbour.

They can use a terrible template and you can pay by selling a kidney. Everybody wins. Except you.

Option 03

Make it properly.

Simple where it can be. Modern where it matters. Hosted with care. Explained in normal English.

No techno speak.

I won’t deliberately bury a simple idea under jargon to make it sound more impressive.

Too many people use big words just to sound photosynthesis.

The beginning

Started in 1997.

Still at it in 2004 — long before responsive design, cloud hosting and Lighthouse scores.

Some things change. Some things don’t. I’ve always believed websites and hosting should be simple, fast and honest. The tools have evolved. The principle hasn’t.

Same person.
Better tools.
Still plain English.

Real help from a real person — not client number 1001.

Let’s talk

Three things that still matter.

01

Easy & Functional

Less is more. A website should be straightforward for the person running it and straightforward for the person using it.

02

Appealing & Affordable

A cheap website that looks dreadful is still a bad website. Good design does not have to mean agency-level prices.

03

Fast & Reliable

People do not enjoy waiting for websites. Pages should load quickly, work properly and be available when somebody needs them.

What Very Easy Web Hosting actually does.

01 / Websites

Simple, modern websites.

Designed and built around what you actually need: clear structure, responsive layouts, accessibility, good search foundations and fast delivery.

02 / Hosting

Hosting that feels looked after.

I run and manage my own hosting infrastructure and deliberately keep the number of hosted sites limited. You should not feel like anonymous client number 1001.

03 / Web systems

When a website needs to do more.

WordPress, Joomla, Moodle, LearnDash and other systems when they are genuinely the right tool for the job. I do not force every project into the same platform.

Simple does not mean sloppy.
